Hatpin through the Brain

Oh my, this is wonderful: Meades on searing, soaring, Nabokovian form (“award-winning gynaecologists”); a righteous maelstrom – the best thing I’ve read for ages and the perfect antidote to the jubilee, ahem, “celebrations”.

(Number of bafflingly tall flagpoles erected in front gardens along my street – just the one. All well and good if kept within the bounds of your property. No street parties.)
